All "crapdows" versions have the same function.

\015\012From the Start button, select menu/programs/accessories/system\015\012tools/system information, then click on the tools menu and select\015\012system configuration utility.

\015\012When the program opens, you'll see an advanced button on the bottom right corner. Press it.

Make sure you have disabled fast shutdown (CHECKED). Press\015\012OK/OK. If it prompts for restart, don't do it, you dont need to. Press\015\012cancel on that screen and then shutdown like you would normally.\015\012

\015\012 Answer \015\012I have found I think the answer to that question, although I haven't\015\012had the time to test it since it is on a friends computer using xp pro.\015\012but you can if you like. go to the bios and check your modem if you are\015\012on a phone line and disable the auto start feature...You may find it\015\012only restarts when a call comes in...\015\012

\015\012 Answer \015\012The bios settings turn the computer on automatically. I actually\015\012have mine set to turn on automatically in the morning before I get out\015\012of bed so it's already on when I get up.

Watch what you see on your screen as you boot up the computer\015\012and do whatever it tells you to do to boot up in bios (typically by\015\012hitting the F2 or Del key). Once in bios, go to the power section. In\015\012the power setting you should see something pertaining to the modem. If\015\012you do NOT want it to power up automatically, choose the Disable\015\012option.

If you DO want to power it up automatically, it will also ask\015\012for a time (day of month, hour, minute). If you set the day as 1, for\015\012example, it will power up on the 1st of the month at the time that is\015\012set. If you set the day of the month to zero (0), it will power up\015\012every day at that time.\015\012

\015\012 Answer \015\012Open your registry: and find the key PowerdownAfterShutdown and set\015\012it to "1" to power off the computer at shutdown, or "0" to reboot. Here\015\012is the path:\015\012HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\WindowsNT\\CurrentVersion\\Winlogon\015\012If you don find it, create it(REG_SZ (String Value)) restart windows\015\012

\015\012 Answer-- \015\012All are very good answers. How are you shutting down your computer?\015\012Do you go to start shut down and then press ok or do you hit alt + f4?\015\012First I would check to see if my pc was set on restart in the shutdown\015\012window just before you click ok. If it is change it to say shutdown.\015\012Then I would try some of the other answers but they take a good\015\012knowledge about computers if you mess up. Hope it helps.\015\012

\015\012 Answer \015\012\015\012If you leave it plugged into the internet and it has viruses it will switch on automatically.\015\012
2000 Is Windows 2000. Why did you put that disk in? Did you start loading Windows 2000 or XP Pro, XP-Home?

It sounds like your switch is wired to the reset jumper on the motherboard or you are hitting reset.

Tell me what the computer screen has on it before it shuts down please.
I will wait on you answer. Do not rate until we are done.
