Fan error of IBM T30 Laptop

\015 The laptop cannot be open some times and when its open, its sound of fan is little rough so tell how to open this laptop to get closer to fan\015

Hello Crazyswanz

In order to access the fan, 5 other areas of the laptop must be removed first. These are detailed in the "ThinkPad Computer Hardware Maintenance Manual" found in PDF format from the following link from IBMs website : ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/92p1840.pdf

(If that link is broken, the manual can be found by first visiting this webpage on their site : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-42308)

The instructions on how to access the fan are listed on page 81, however you best check whether this is covered, and would validate your warranty before accessing the inside of your laptop.

Hope this helps!
David
All I had to do was open up the center access panel on the bottom and blow out the fan.

Laptop Fan? I shut down my laptop (which I never do), and when I tried to reboot it, it beeped and said "Fan Error," then shut itself back down. I'm assuming that means my fan is dead, and I need to replace it...correct? About how much will that cost, and where can I get it repaired? PS - I don't know if I entered the right IBM style (I don't have my laptop with me)...I purchased it in 2003 and it was the thin one of the two offered.

I have a IBM Lenovo ThinkPad T61. My laptop had been having problems with its fan (makes loud noises, overheats, then shuts off). Whenever I reboot (or turn On from Off state), it says "Fan error" on a black screen with 2 beeps, then pause for about 3 seconds, then shuts off with 1 beep (doesn't even load Windows). This is why I usually just put the laptop to sleep rather than turn it off. So, I restarted my laptop because Windows Update required me to, and the fan error problem showed up. I tr
